Visual functions in patients with cytomegalovirus uveitis and HIV infection

BACKGROUND: Cytomegalovirus damage to the eye is leading cause of loss visual functions associated with HIV. Effective treatment HIV-infected patients has changed understanding clinical picture cytomegalovirus uveitis (CMV-uveitis).
 AIM: The aim work determine prevalence, structure forms and evaluate in CMV-uveitis.
 MATERIALS AND METHODS: study group consisted 66 CMV-uveitis (97 eyes), which there were 27 men (40.9%), 39 women (59.1%). average age was 39.6 3.91 years. All had stage 4B HIV infection according V.V. Pokrovskys classification (2006). During work, visometry, perimetry, biomicroscopy, ophthalmoscopy used.
 RESULTS: main form disease chorioretinitis, diffuse generalized are diagnosed 68.0% cases. In predicting acuity, regression criterion disease.
 CONCLUSIONS: Diffuse prevailed practice. Localization chorioretinal process a predominantly nature predetermined more than third cases met criteria for blindness WHO (1977).
